Linda Liu, known as “the woman who dedicated her life to shoes”, is a designer and entrepreneur from Chengdu. The origin of her brand, Sheme, traces back to her trip to Kenya in 1997. There, she watched thousands of pink flamingos flying to the sky and she was overwhelmed by the spectacular and graceful scenery, just like a rare ballet. She was satiated with a feeling of elegance, independence, and strength that she wanted to share with women from all around the world.

DESIGN

Using the excellence of traditional workmanship and attractive elements of the Chinese culture to catch the modern fashion trends reflecting our urban lifestyle. 

Our workshops master for instance the Sichuan or Miao embroidery techniques, the Kesi weaving…

The rich Chinese traditional cultural symbols include auspicious clouds, plums, orchids, bamboos and chrysanthemums, flowers, insects and birds, totems of Chinese ethnic groups and so on.

These elements help Sheme to depict today’s fashion trends, understand the GenZ culture and to forge an identity of its own.

Sheme is famous for mastering the art of hand embroidery directly on leather, silk, or any material to produce shoes.

Various embroidery techniques are used, such as halo stitch embroidery, oblique rolling stitch, swirling stitch, and cross gold embroidery… Each of them delicately depicts the gorgeousness and three-dimensionality of a patterns, making the traditional Chinese handcrafts glow with a new fashion charm.

HANDMADE LEATHER WOVEN

The unique leather-woven decorative fasteners and exquisite leather-woven concentric knots are all hand-woven and need to go through more than ten delicate and dense steps to obtain the desired effect.

SPARKLING GLAMOR 

Sheme is using the highest quality of Swarovski crystals to reach lifelike sparkling purity and to bring some extra glamor to the shoes.

DESIGN TEAM 

Linda Liu is both the founder of the brand and its artistic director, giving it its creative impulse and defining the concept of each season.

The studio gathers very talented international designers from Italy, Hong Kong, China to name a few. They often collaborate with the British Royal School of Needlework (RSN).

Chengdu is the hometown to the exquisite Sichuan embroidery, and this is where the Sheme workshops are located.
